The start of the official Christmas season!

Anyone who knows me well will tell you that Christmas is my favorite holiday. Not only do i love it, but i go all out for it. I have to say i must give credit to my mother for planting in me a Christmas seed when i was very young. Ever since i can remember, the weeks following the traditional Thanksgiving meal have been filled with decorations all over the house, cookie making by the hundreds, watching every traditional movie at least once and everything else that comes with this magical season. Even though i am a lover of all things Christmas i am strongly against putting up any decorations before Thanksgiving has been properly celebrated. Thanksgiving is a wonderful holiday in its own right and should not be overshadowed by greedy retailers trying to maximize the Christmas season all they can, even before Halloween sometimes! Yes indeed the Christmas season is a bit short for my tastes and i would enjoy a longer celebration of this wonderful time of year, but please people let Thanksgiving alone! I personally think that we should move Thanksgiving to the third Thursday of November, but that's just me :)

In honor of the Christmas season, i would like to post each day( like an advent calendar) something about the true meaning of Christmas, to remind us all why we really celebrate this holiday, a post about our Savior Jesus Christ. Most will come from talks from the most recent General Conference. I will try as best i can to post these once a day till Christmas and i hope you will read them and partake in the joy of this special season with me.

" I have spoken here of heavenly help, of angels dispatched to bless us in time of need. But when we speak of those who are instruments in the hand of God, we are reminded that not all angels are from the other side of the veil. Some of them we walk with-here, now, everyday. Some of them reside in out own neighborhoods. Some of them gave birth to us, and in my case, one of them consented to marry me. Indeed heaven never seems closer than when we see the love of god manifested in the kindness and devotion of people so good and so pure that angelic is the only word the comes to mind." - Elder Holland

Are there angels in your life today? If so thank Heavenly Father for that wonderful gift in your life that is not just given at Christmas time, but all year round. Merry Christmas!
